Tea & Coffee
Are you brave enough to attempt unpacking without caffeine? If the neighbours decide to pop in and introduce themselves it’s also nice to be able to offer them a cuppa.
Toiletries
Pack a small selection of toiletries that you will need easy access to on the first night and the next morning before unloading the boxes. Include things like deodorant, hand soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, hairbrush, pain killers (for any post-move aches and pains), and don’t forget the most important of all – toilet paper!
Snacks
Pack some cereal or a loaf of bread and spread for breakfast and throw in a few muesli bars to have on hand for a quick refuel before you get a chance to hit the grocery store. It’s unlikely you’re going to feel like preparing a home cooked meal after a long day with the fast movers coordinating the relocation, so pizza delivery is always a favourite for the first night in your new home.
Clothes
Regardless of the weather, you’re probably going to feel like a refreshing shower at the end of the day, so pack some towels in your overnight bag along with pyjamas and a fresh set of clothes to begin the next morning. If you have labelled your linen boxes correctly, finding a towel and bath mat shouldn’t be a huge ordeal, but if you’ve got a few in your overnight bag you won’t have to break open boxes prematurely.
Miscellaneous
Pack your phone charger – you’ll miss that when you run out of battery right before calling the pizza delivery!
